This research aims to provide information about the role of H2A.Z genes in temperature sensing. The project's impact is greater since the chosen species has been little studied and it is an important biotechnology resource for Ecuador.

Project Title: Distribution and altitudinal diversity of quironomids (Chironomidae) in the rivers of the Metropolitan District of Quito

Synopsis: The objective of this Thesis project is to analyze the distribution and diversity of Diptera quironomids (Chironomidae) of the rivers in the Metropolitan District of Quito and that occur in different ecosystems and at different altitudes. This will be achieved by analyzing samples, evaluating and identifying taxonomies and estimating different chironomids present in these ecosystems.The purpose of this study is to obtain data on diversity, distribution and biogeographic location of major genres of Chironomidae in rivers without anthropogenic disturbance, and to serve as a basis for further studies of habitat restoration based on chironomid communities in anthropogenically undisturbed areas.
